Free & Reduced Breakfast and Lunch
Free and reduced lunches and breakfasts are an important part of our students’ overall positive experience. Study after study shows that it is imperative for students to received healthy, nutritious meals to ensure they learn at their maximum levels. All information regarding the Free & Reduced Lunch process is CONFIDENTIAL.
The Hot Springs School District offers healthy meals to all enrolled children at no additional cost. USDA provides reimbursements for healthy meals and snacks served to children enrolled in the school/center. Please help us comply with the requirements of the Program by completing the attached Application for Free/Reduced-price Meals. By filling out this form, we will be able to determine if we can claim meals served to your child (ren) at the free or reduced-price rate. The packet available here includes an application for free or reduced-price meal benefits, and a set of detailed instructions. It also provides additional information as to who is eligible.
It is also important to the Hot Springs School District that all eligible families complete the F&R application as we receive additional Federal funds depending on our Free & Reduced Lunch percentage. These Federal funds come in the form of grant that allow us to provide additional support services throughout the district.
Please take the time to learn more about the application. If you need additional assistance in completing it, please contact Kelli Rhoe at 745-7847.
The Hot Springs School District’s policy regarding lunch accounts effective for the 2023-2024 school year is as follows:
The Beginning of the Year:
For students who were on the Free or Reduced Program last year, for a period of 30 school days, we will assume they qualify for a Free or Reduced price until they return an updated Application for Free or Reduced Meals. After the 30 school days, if an updated application has not been turned into the office, the student will pay Full Price. Households need to reapply yearly for the Free and Reduced Meal Program. Applications are accepted throughout the school year.
